    • Comments:

The arch support on these orthotics is probably not as good as my prescription custom orthotics (unsurprisingly), but so far I have actually found these more useful because I can fit them in more of my shoes, and they require less of a break-in period. The best part about these orthotics is the metatarsal support. I have a lot of issues with pain in the sesamoid/ball-of-foot area, and these definitely help with that. They seem to fit best in oxfords and boots (not so well in ballet flats, heels, or any shoes with built-in arch support, e.g. Danskos). Because they are dress orthotics, they are intentionally quite narrow, but this means that they slide around a bit if the shoe is a little wider, which may reduce the effectiveness. The more common problem for me is that many of my shoes become uncomfortably tight with these in them, so it looks like I will have to start buying shoes a half size larger to accommodate them. I would recommend going to a store that has an Aetrex iStep foot scanner to find out which size and style of orthotics is best for you, but for me, these have been great so far!
